Please Note – Effective June 18, 2024:
- Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and Station Wagons were moved from the Larger Vehicles category to the Cars category, and
- the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) cap of the Cars category was reduced to $50,000.
For the CleanBC Go Electric Passenger Vehicle Rebate Program purposes, optional accessories/equipment (e.g., packages) and other fees (e.g., destination, documentation, etc.) do not affect the vehicle’s eligibility for the rebate. As long as the vehicle model and trim level are included in the list of eligible vehicles, and the trim level’s MSRP is equal to or lower than $50,000 for Cars and $70,000 for Larger Vehicles, the vehicle is eligible.
Under the MSRP eligibility criterion, the battery and powertrain are not options. If an OEM offers a business model where the battery or the powertrain are options, the price of the battery or powertrain must be included in the MSRP. The MSRP criterion for vehicle eligibility is based on the vehicle model year, model, and trim. Vehicles must be on the eligibility list prior to purchase/lease to qualify for a rebate.
Dates for additional rebates will be posted as new eligible vehicle models are approved by the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation.
Vehicle models will be approved by BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, on a model year basis and placed on a List of Eligible Vehicle Models. A continuously updated list of eligible vehicles and rebate amounts will be maintained on this website. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) must submit a Vehicle Eligibility Application to BC Ministry of Energy and Mines to have a vehicle(s) considered for the Program eligibility after April 1, 2015 that are not on the original list of eligible vehicles. BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation is responsible for providing the NCDA with the current list of eligible vehicles and the corresponding rebate amounts.
Zero-emission vehicles included in this program include Cars and Larger Vehicles that use hydrogen or electricity as their primary fuel source. The program provides rebates for British Columbia purchasers or lessees of zero-emission vehicles, including:
- Electric vehicles (EV) which include battery electric vehicles (BEV)
- Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV)
- Extended range electric vehicles (ER-EV)
- Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV)
BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation reserves the right to adjust the rebate amounts as necessary based on market performance; the rebate may decline each 12-month period of the program.
Vehicle Rebate Amounts
BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation has established rebate amounts based on applicant type, vehicle type and battery range.
Qualified B.C. residents (individuals) who purchase or lease qualifying new vehicles, are eligible for up to $4,000 off the final, after-tax vehicle price for qualifying new battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, longer range (over 85 kilometres of electric range) plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, and up to $2,000 for a shorter-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
Businesses, non-profit organizations and local government organizations who purchase or lease qualifying new vehicles, are eligible for $3,000 off the final, after-tax vehicle price for qualifying new battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, longer range (over 85 kilometres of electric range) plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, and $1,500 for a shorter-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
